I found this Gem in a Backyard In La Cresenta, CA and it hadn't been wet in almost two decades. I had it on the water in less than a month and am continuing to get her squared away. She is powered by a 1969 Aero-Marine Version of a L-88 427 BBC. Power is translated by a Velvet Drive Trans w/reverse into a Crusader Gear Box. All the numbers match up with the exception of the heads. Aluminum heads dont do very well in marine applications so a set of cast iron L-71 Closed Chamber Heads were used instead. This didn't stop Aero Marine from Labeling the engine on its info plate as an L-88. Boat was Detuned during fuel shortage of the 70's so the boat could run on less than 100 octane fuel. The Original 12.5:1 pistons were swapped out with a set of 10:1's. The carb was also swapped out for something on the smaller side. To my surprise at the point of sale I was handed a large box containg a custom BBQ which mounted to the side of the transom, "very trick", a spare prop "NICE", the original 12.5:1 pistons in cherry condition "SCORE", and the original Carb "SCORE AGAIN"! Mostly stock with the exception of the MSD Ignition System, Billet Electronic Distributor, 6AL Box, Blaster Coil, and a MSD soft touch Rev Limiter and an optima Blue top Battery. Michael
